Am I the only one who finds it strange that some people can't differentiate between a village being called Hartshorne and their name being Hartshorne? My surname is Beirut but I have no inclination to visit there.

I live in Canada but many of my ancestors( Hodson,Grundy,Slater, Knight) including my father were born in this area. My Grandmother's(Hilda Hodson)family held Stonehouse farm from the 1870s to about 1908. I have a beautiful old photo of the farmhouse and several taken in the 1980s when I last visited the area. I also have the photo that you have included in your site of a group of men in the stacking yard at Stonehouse Farm. For your information, the three on the far left are relatives of mine. From left to right;my great uncle Fred Hodson (b. c1895), my great grandfather Joe Hodson (b. c1848)and another great uncle Arthur Hodson (b. c1883). I love your site. It has given me a lot of valuable information.

4th Generation Hartson from Newfoundland here. All we know is that we were once Hartshorns of England. Your website is the first time I've seen this evidence in some kind of print. Thank you.
