A really informative site - thanks!

My father brought me to the village when I was a little girl to point out to me 'Orme's Row' - long re-named, but found in an early census. I'm interested in the names Orme, Glover, Thorpe and Holmes; ancesters in Hartshorne were shop-keepers, wheelwrights and farmers. I would love to hear more from and relatives.

I read the comment from New Zealand about photos from New Zealand. I would like to contact Graeme Parr. His ancestor married one of my realations - Henry Shacklock. I am also trying to locate Fletchers Buildings in Hartshorne (1841 ) - does anyone know where and what it was?
My son now lives in Dunedin NZ and we will be visiting him in early 2010

Completely agree with Jean's comment; I've only recently moved to Hartshorne & was looking forward to seeing the re-opened Chesterfield; it's a real shame. Has anyone got any info on what the plans are?

Has anyone any views on the demolition and develpement that is going to take place on the site of the Chesterfield Arms. I feel sad that the pub has closed due to lack of customers. I only wish that it could have been converted into a dwelling or something useful. Maybe some good can come out of this, more housing means maybe bringing a shop back into the village. Does anyone else agree with my views?

Interesting site. My great great grandfather was born in Hartshorne in 1812. He was John Bradley, a tailor.
